Should you find yourself locked out of your car you have a few options. If you have a membership with a road club, such as AAA, then you would call them for help to get back in your car. If you are lucky and have a membership with a service such as OnStar they’ll be able to unlock your car for you immediately. You may also have a roadside assistance plan with your insurance provider, credit card, or cellular provider. In each of these cases the price to you will usually range from free to $50.
If you find yourself locked out of your car without any roadside assistance plans then you still have a few options. Most cars come with more than one key, and the other one is not likely also in the car. If you have a friend or family member who can get the other key to you, then you’ll probably make it out for the cost of a beer and some ribbing. Your other option is to contact a locksmith to come let you in the car. If you only need entry to the car, it’ll likely run $50-$75. If you also need a key made the price can increase anywhere from $4 to $100+.
